The Reading Clinic is expanding their building in a three-pronged effort to improve services to the children of Bermuda. The building, located on Serpentine Road, will feature a reception area and three additional rooms once construction is complete. The new rooms will provide additional space for tutoring, offices and rental space to bolster the Reading Clinic’s earned income.“A bigger space in which to operate will enable us to empower even more individuals to overcome their challenges and use their talents to secure brighter futures for themselves and for Bermuda,” said Julie Dunstan, executive director of the Reading Clinic, in a press release.Funding for the project is being provided by the Argus Group, Aspen and an anonymous foundation.Allison Hill, CEO of Argus, remarked on the two organisations’ common goals.“Our charitable donations committee saw an affinity between the theme of prevention ... and the role the Reading Clinic plays in helping to avoid secondary problems associated with learning difficulties,” Ms Hill said. “We at Argus are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to be partnered with the team at the Reading Clinic.”Currently more than 80 percent of the Reading Clinic’s annual budget relies on volunteers and donations. They provide lessons and diagnostic assessments to over 160 children with reading and math-related learning difficulties each year.
