Warwick Academy principal delighted with 86 percent pass rate
Warwick Academy students recorded an 86 percent pass rate in their IGCSEs this summer.Forty-two out of 49 Year 11 students achieved five or more passes at Grade A* to C, according to a statement from the school released yesterday.The success rate is down on last year’s 90 percent, although 182 out of the school’s 450 grades were A* or A grades, a rate of 40 percent, up from 30 percent last year.Principal Margaret McCorkell was delighted with the results, and praised the hard work and dedication of the students in the school’s historic 350th anniversary year.“The best way in fact to celebrate this very important anniversary year for the school is to continue the outstanding academic tradition of Warwick Academy,” said a statement.Russell Conyers was the top achiever, with eight A* grades and an A, with Lindsay Fisher scoring seven A*s and two As. Jasmine Lee, Matthew Blee, Christopher Alexander and Evan Hughes each got five A*s, Emma Keane and Lauren DeVerteuil got four A*s and Hayley Smith three A*s.Year Ten students who took their IGCSEs a year early in mathematics, English and Spanish achieved 100 percent A* to C grades, including 93 percent A* or A.Yesterday’s Royal Gazette reported how Saltus Grammar School Year 11 students scored an 89 percent success rate in IGCSE Grades A* to C.
