Minister promises solution to teacher transfers after school starts
Parental input in school affairs, including the contentious issue of teacher transfers, will be addressed “shortly after school reconvenes in September”, according to Education Minister Nalton Brangman.Mr Brangman yesterday announced that his Ministry was drafting proposals to “resolve the issue of teacher transfers and parental involvement in schools”.He added that stakeholder groups, ranging from principals, teachers, parent-teacher associations and “the broader community”, would be engaged in consultation on the matter.The remarks followed a call from Shadow Minister Walton Brown for a collective resolution of the transfers issue.Mr Brangman thanked his Progressive Labour Party counterpart for the offer of assistance.“I certainly welcome Mr Brown’s input and that of the entire community once we bring forward our proposals on the matter,” he said.
