Bank of Butterfield have given two Bermudian students scholarships worth a potential $200,000.

Victoria Clarke has been awarded the Sir Harry D Butterfield Undergraduate Scholarship.

A recent Bermuda High School for Girls graduate, Ms Clarke will begin studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Georgia later this year.

Marlena Tucker has been awarded the Sir A Dudley Spurling Postgraduate Scholarship.

She graduated from Coventry University with a first class Bachelor of Science degree in Equine Science.

She will be continuing her studies in September at Edinburgh University’s Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies.

“Encouraging talented young Bermudians to dream big and achieve more is a key part of why, for so many years, Butterfield has offered scholarships for postsecondary studies,” Butterfield’s scholarship committee chairman Lee Simmons said.

“Through the Sir Harry D Butterfield undergraduate and Sir A Dudley Spurling postgraduate scholarships, we’ve helped numerous students rise to their potential and inspire success.”

Both scholarships are worth $25,000 a year for up to four years.

The Bank of Butterfield selects recipients from among hundreds of applicants based on academic achievement, financial need, character, leadership, civic attainment and involvement, and achievements in non-curricular activities, including the arts and sports.
