Warwick Academy students will pack their bags later this year to pursue further studies at some of the most respected universities in the world after the school announced an “outstandingly successful” set of International Baccalaureate results.

Pupils from the class of 2017 will attend Cambridge University, Stanford University as well as other educational establishments in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

The school achieved a 93 per cent pass rate after entering a record number of students as diploma candidates.

“The class of 2017 also scored a record number of level 7s and 6s, with a third of our results in this category,” principal Dave Horan said.

“In addition, four students managed 40 or more points which is a first for the school. Overall, 88 per cent of our levels were at level 4 or higher across the wide range of subjects on offer including all the sciences.

“Our average point score was 32 for the diploma, again above the world average of 30 points.”

Among the school’s top performers were Zach Myers, who earned 43 points and will head to Cambridge University next year to study English literature and Hannah Marshall, who gained 41 points and will pursue a chemistry degree at Stanford university.

Brian Darling achieved 42 points and will head to Warwick University in England to study Computer Science, while Cameron Lee-Ming earned a place at the University of British Columbia in Canada, to study applied sciences, with 40 points.

Other notable performances include Tia Froud with 39 points, Kip Malpas with 39, Emily Medway with 37, India Wilson with 36, Sabriyya Harvey with 35, Hannah Mallon with 35 and Lizzy Madeiros with 35.

The school’s top IB individual subject performers were Alex Beltram and Matthew Meszoly.

“These are well-balanced young adults who have immersed themselves in all that Warwick Academy has to offer and embark well prepared for what lies ahead.

“We know how much work goes into the build-up to their final examinations and are tremendously proud of each and every one. We congratulate the Class of 2017 on their achievements and look forward to hearing about their future endeavours and successes.

“I would also like to thank our staff for the dedication and expertise they have shown in preparing our students and the time they have spent both inside and outside of the classroom with them.”
