BizCamp students visit Hub Culture village
Aspiring young Bermudian entrepreneurs were hosted at the Hub Culture village last week.
The BizCamp students were able to experience the invitation-led global collaboration network first-hand.
Founder Stan Stalnaker explained how Hub Culture’s four functions — Pavilions (places to collaborate), Knowledge Brokerage (consulting and deal services), AI (Zeke artificial intelligence), and Ven (a global digital currency) — are all fused together to support places for meetings and networking such as the Hub Culture Innovation Campus and Beach Club at Ariel Sands.
This was the second group of Bermudian teenagers to to visit this mobile campus village complete with meeting cabanas, a creative studio, a virtual reality unit, restaurant and lounge areas with fibre-optic internet. They experienced the virtual reality pavilion, learnt about “cradle to cradle” sustainability thinking, and began to understand how virtual currency is growing to be a leading force in the global economy.
BizCamp, which is operated by The Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative in conjunction with the Department of ICT Policy and Innovation, has been conducting two seven-day BizCamps at Bermuda College for young Bermudian aged between 13 to 17.
The second group of students will present their comprehensive BizPlans tomorrow.
Judges will include ICT policy and innovation director Marisa Stones, Black Star Communications president and Progressive Labour Party MP Rolfe Commissiong, Bermuda Business Development Agency’s head of business development Sean Moran, IID Partners’ managing partner Niklas Traub and Rees Fletcher, Trustee of the Chubb Charitable Foundation — Bermuda and former chair of ACE Bermuda Insurance.
All are welcome to attend the final presentations from 1pm in the North Hall at Bermuda College.
