A half century of sixth form pupils at an island school have graduated.

A total of 50 pupils successfully graduated from Warwick Academy.

David Horan, the Warwick Academy principal, said: “These are well balanced young adults who have immersed themselves in all that Warwick Academy has to offer — academic, music, drama, sport, community service and leadership programmes — and embark well prepared for what lies ahead.

“They head off to wonderful universities and colleges around the world, with a few taking the gap year option with adventure ahead.”

A school spokeswoman said students were able to choose three paths to graduation — the International Baccalaureate diploma programme, the IB Individual Subjects programme or the Business and Technology Education Council vocational programme.

Students who chose the IB diploma programme scored a 92 per cent pass rate.

Eryn Bhola notched up the highest number of points in the programme with 39, well above the international average of 30.

Students who picked the IB Individual Subjects programme or the BTEC pathway had a 100 per cent pass rate.

Alisa Bernardo secured the highest score for the IB Individual Subjects pathway with 34 points.

Camryn Dunstan and Patrick Quinn both achieved merits in the BTEC exams.

Mr Horan added: “We know how much work goes into the build-up to their final examinations and are tremendously proud of each and every one.

“We congratulate the Class of 2018 on their achievements and look forward to hearing about their future endeavours and successes.”
