New head of primary at BHS
The Bermuda High School for Girls is pleased to announce that Mrs. Tracy Renaud has been selected to be the Head of Primary from August 2019 onwards.
Mrs. Renaud will take over the position from Ms. Tina Harris who is leaving BHS after 26 years at the end of the 2018/2019 academic year. Ms. Harris taught Year 3 and Year 6 before taking on the role of Head of Primary in 2002. Head of School, Linda Parker said, “We appreciate Ms. Harris’ 26 years of stellar service to the School and her outstanding leadership of the Primary department. She will be greatly missed by staff and students alike.”
Mrs. Renaud holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada, and a Masters of Science Honours degree in Elementary Teaching from the State University of New York. Additionally, she has achieved the National Professional Qualification for Headship from the National College for Teaching and Leadership, UK. Mrs. Renaud has 23 years of experience in education as a teacher and administrator: 20 years at Saltus Grammar School and 3 years at BHS. Mrs. Renaud has taught from Primary 2 to Year 6. While at Saltus, she held several leadership positions over an 8 year span as Deputy Head of Lower Primary (Kindergarten to Year 2), Deputy Head of Upper Primary (Years 3 to Year 6) and Director of Upper Primary (Years 3 to Year 6). In 2015, Mrs. Renaud was a welcomed addition to the Primary faculty at BHS. In addition to teaching Year 6 for the past 3 years, Mrs. Renaud has also served as the Primary Assessment Coordinator and the School Leadership Coordinator.
Mrs. Renaud’s advanced leadership qualifications and experience, her passion for teaching and learning, and her unbridled enthusiasm for the Primary Years have positioned her well for this role, and she is excited for this new challenge, “I am truly honoured to assume this responsibility and become part of the dynamic and innovative Leadership Team at The Bermuda High School for Girls. The success of our students and the preparation to assume their rightful place in the new world order is paramount. The staff have continually raised the bar and our many accomplished alumni are a testament to this principle. It has been an absolute pleasure to experience the positive ethos and strong culture of the School and I look forward to being involved in the next exciting chapter at BHS.”
