CedarBridge Academy students were honoured earlier this month for completing an early work experience programme.

The 17 students, ranging from S2 to S4, were joined by teachers and Parliament members in celebration of graduating the Professional-Student Relationship Programme.

The students participated in the work initiative for seven months, where they were involved with workshops, construction site visits and on-site activities.

Jaire Salaam, the CedarBridge Head Boy, said that the experience helped expose him to different careers in the particular field.

He explained: “We were able to gain knowledge about various careers involved in construction.

“Through this programme I realised my love for civil engineering and will be pursuing this field of study at Dalhousie University.”

S4 student Liliana Moniz described benefiting greatly from the programme, adding: “Through this programme I was able to decide that I want to pursue interior architecture and have already been accepted to a university.”

Lovitta Foggo, the Minister of Labour, Community Affairs and Sport, said the opportunities like the PSRP were “integral to our young people’s success and development”.

She added: “The Department of Workforce Development is pleased to partner with the various Government Ministries and departments to ensure that our students have this kind of unique career exposure.

“I wish to thank all involved for taking the time to guide our young people towards achieving their goals.”
