Barritt steps down as college chair
Albert College is pleased to welcome Prince Edward County resident, Alison Gilbert, as Chair of the Albert College Board of Governors.
Gilbert took on the role at the recent Board of Governors Annual General Meeting on October 5, and will work with the Board to position the school for the future by continuing to implement the 2018-23 Strategic Plan.
“When I was invited to join the Board in 2013, I could never have imagined the dedication and
caring staff and faculty at this institution of life and learning,” says Gilbert. “With each meeting, we see the vision and commitment to the Albert College principles built upon and strengthened. I am honoured to serve as the Chair of the Board of Governors.”
With over 20 years in the finance and investment industry, Gilbert held many roles including Vice President for TD Securities Inc., and as an Analyst at National Bank Financial and Merrill Lynch Canada Inc. Earlier in her career, she worked in Human Resources at Empire Financial Group in Kingston. Gilbert is currently a Director with BMO Capital Markets. She joined the Board of Governors at Albert College in 2013 and became Chair of the Finance Committee. After five years, she took the role of Vice-Chair of the Board. Her expertise in finance was instrumental when developing Albert’s 2018-23 Strategic Financial Plan.
For over 15 years, Gilbert was an active member of the Board of Directors for the National Ballet School Foundation in Toronto. She has one son who attends Albert College. Her older son attends McGill University in Montreal.
Gilbert succeeds past Chair and Albert College Alumnus John Barritt ’68 from Bermuda, whose
tenure included five years as Chair.
The College is grateful for his dedication to the school and thanks him for his service as he continues on the Board as Past Chair.
The Board of Governors are dedicated volunteers comprised of parents, alumni and individuals
from the community. The group of members have skills and talents in areas of finance, marketing, law, entrepreneurship and education and work together to advance the vision of the school.
