Westgate inmates have built playground equipment for a preschool.

The work was done through a partnership between the prison and Southampton Preschool.

Jamahl Simmons, the acting education minister, visited the preschool with national security minister Wayne Caines.

He said: “I would like to extend my warmest thanks to the men who put their minds, hands and skills towards making the lives of our children at Southampton Preschool a little brighter.”

The equipment was designed to help the pupils investigate the outside world and learn through their senses.
