BUT announces new executive team

The Bermuda Union of Teachers announced its new executive team tonight to be led by recently elected president Nishanti Bailey.

Ms Bailey will be joined by Anthony Wolffe, who returns as vice-president, while Craig Crinchlow will take over treasurer duties.

Dante Cooper will serve as the new recording secretary.

A BUT spokesman said Shannon James, the past president of the union, and Michael Charles, the general secretary, would both assist the new president.

The spokesman added: “This group knows that its mission must be holistic at its core because supporting teachers means supporting students, and supporting students means supporting the nation.

“This group will work for teachers, students, and, ultimately, Bermuda.”

School level executives were elected as follows:

• Preschool executive: Marion Dyer

• Primary school executives: Shacolbi Basden, Denise Booth, V Denise Hill and Crenstant Williams

• Middle school executives: Tracy Hayward and Tiffany Trott

• Senior school executive: Wade Herman and Patricia Nesbitt

Specialist executives will include:

• Administrative executive: Saquita Parson

• Counsellor executive: Jutkita Wilson

• Para-educator executive: Joezine Butterfield

• Specialist executive: Laurel Burns

• Attendance executive: Prinzine Bailey
