An art gallery’s drive to encourage more people to pick up a paint brush by handing out free art supplies to children has proved a hit.

The Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art organised the “Arts for All” event at its gallery in the Botanical Gardens in a bid to “revitalise students and community members through the arts”.

Staff handed out free art supplies to children aged six to 12 a few weeks ago.

The gallery also held free workshops and a number of classes for upper secondary pupils and adults at the same time.

The museum is running an eight-week winter course for novice painters, which started last week.

“Finding the Artist Within” teaches the basic techniques of acrylic and watercolour.

It also provides a guide to participants on how to develop their own style of painting.
