The Ministry of Education has announced that recent Covid-19 outbreaks have forced the cancellation of the Learning First pop–up events scheduled for today and Friday.

Today’s event was scheduled to be held at the Slat House at Botanical Gardens in Paget and Friday’s was expected to be held at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences in St George’s.

Monday’s event at Vernon Temple AME Church in Southampton went ahead.

A Ministry of Education spokeswoman said: “The ministry had scheduled three pop-up events for education stakeholders and the general public to introduce what is being designed to prepare students for 21st century learning in Bermuda public schools.

“However, due to recent developments and health precautions, we will arrange an event at a later date.”

She added people could sign up at http://bit.ly/LearningFirstNews for the latest information.

The spokeswoman said parents, pupils school staff and education department workers and others interested in the improvement of the school system should register.
