“Passion, enthusiasm and determination” helped two young Bermudians earn scholarships from the Devonshire Parish Council.

Micah O’Brien and Taylor Hill were each selected for this year’s scholarships as they pursue careers in the world of medicine.

Mr O’Brien, a student at Loma Linda University in California, hopes to provide on-island services for patients in need of orthotics and prosthetics, while Ms Hill is studying to become a speech pathologist at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia.

A spokesman for the parish council’s scholarship committee said: “It is our pleasure to help students achieve their educational goals through this scholarship and we look forward to witnessing their future growth and accomplishments.”

The Devonshire Parish Council scholarship – worth up to $5,000 – is offered to Devonshire residents enrolled in graduate or undergraduate studies.
