Young people enrolled on a graduate trainee scheme are the “future leaders of Bermuda”, the labour minister has said.

Mr Hayward told those involved: "The Ministry of Labour launched the first graduate trainee pilot programme in February 2021, with 15 recent college/university graduates successfully completing the programme.

“I now congratulate each of you for your academic accomplishments and for becoming the second cohort of young men and women to participate in this programme.

“You are the future leaders of Bermuda, and this Government is committed to providing you with the training and support opportunities needed for success.”

Mr Hayward was speaking as he joined those taking part in the Department of Workforce Development’s graduate trainee programme in a virtual chat last week.

The ten recent graduates will receive coaching, employability skills training and one-on-one support to develop “their personal brand”.

Those involved will get a three-month work placement sponsored by the Department of Workforce Development at the end of the programme.
