Bermuda College commencement ceremony to be held on Thursday
Bermuda College will celebrate 24 new graduates at its second annual Winter Commencement tomorrow.
Duranda Greene, the college president, said half of the graduates had achieved GPAs above 3.0, which meant they would graduate with merit or distinction.
Dr Greene said: “This underpins the resilience distinctive of most Covid-era graduates.
“They’ve pushed harder, determined to succeed.”
There are seven graduates from the college’s Division of Nursing and Allied Health, who earned Associate of Science degrees in nursing.
The college will also honour 19 students who graduated last semester from transfer partner universities including Mount Saint Vincent University in Canada; Framingham State University in the US; and the University of the West Indies.
Phyllis Curtis-Tweed, the vice-president of academic and student affairs, wished the graduates the best of luck and Carleen Place, the registrar and co-chairwoman of the college’s commencement committee, praised the students’ dedication.
Ms Place said: “We have seen an increase in the number of students completing their programme during the fall semester as internships and practicums were delayed.
“They are all deserving of our congratulations.”
The virtual ceremony will start at 1pm tomorrow and will be streamed on the college’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
Dejaneé Hill-Edwards, an underwriting assistant at Arch Re and one of the first Bermuda College dual-enrolment graduates, will be the guest speaker.
