A cohort of 23 young people have celebrated their completion of the Mirrors personal development programme.

The ceremony was held at the Field of Learning Garden Club, opened this month by eight students at Southlands Park in Warwick.

Both events were announced by Kathy Lynn Simmons, the Minister of Legal Affairs and Constitutional Reform.

The June 11 ceremony marked the 15th year of the Mirrors transformation service for young people aged 14 to 18.

The programme opened with a three-day local residential session and ended after eight months of life coaching.

Through Mirrors, students build confidence in public speaking, teamwork and character development, as well as personal insights through community service or experiential learning.

Ernest Peets, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, congratulated participants — along with Jeanene Todd, who has been promoted to lead facilitator.

Ms Todd has been invited to join the international personal development programme Quantum Learning Global as a facilitator, and will take part in its upcoming international camps in Vietnam and Singapore.

Dr Peets was present for the unveiling of the Field of Learning Garden Club at Southlands, where a team of students from Mirrors Cohort 17 worked to clear land and plant crops.

A plot of land was donated to the cause, with eight students from the Berkeley Institute, CedarBridge Academy, Somersfield Academy and Dellwood Middle School attending every Tuesday and Thursday using the farm techniques of the AgraLiving Institute with Chris Farias.

Mirrors enjoyed a 50 per cent return rate with volunteers for this cohort.

All participants, including the volunteers, received certificates of participation and personal development hours.
