Local Kindermusik school wins international recognition
A Bermuda-based early childhood music and movement programme has been recognised by a leading global provider of music-based learning.
Bermuda Kids was recently awarded the 2022 Top Programme through Kindermusik International and joins an elite company of the Top 200 early childhood music programmes that offer Kindermusik classes around the world.
Alexandra Lima is a Kindermusik accredited educator and the owner of Bermuda Kids, which has been serving Bermuda families in early childhood education since 2021.
The Kindermusik Top Programme Mezzanine Level award recognises excellence in “spreading the power of music and movement to young children and their families through Kindermusik’s curricula”.
Scott Kinsey, chief executive at Kindermusik International, said: “We know that when music and movement are combined, the brain gets a complete multisensory workout.
“We provide the curricula but these talented accredited educators use their own masterful teaching expertise to make every class memorable, playful and fun. That’s the real secret to fostering powerful whole-child development and creating lifelong learners.”
Ms Lima began providing Kindermusik in January 2021 when she launched Bermuda Kids. Today, the classes serve more than 100 families.
Ms Lima said: “When we began, class sizes were limited due to the pandemic. We had to be creative with our offerings from private bubble classes to outdoor al fresco style sessions. Now we have some momentum and a loyal customer base allowing Bermuda Kids to continue to grow.
“We are very fortunate to have amazing families who are committed to their child’s development through music and movement. Kindermusik sets a foundation of lifelong learning and it doesn’t happen without the engagement and support of families.
“As we move into the 2022/2023 year, we look forward to a full schedule of classes with additional options to reach even more families. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and spread the joy of Kindermusik.”
