Lobsters in the spotlight for final BUEI Kids Hour

Lobsters are off the menu and in the spotlight this weekend as part of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute’s final Kids Hour Saturday of the year.

The event series, which is held every third Saturday of the month between January and September, features short films and children’s stories about different marine topics, with this week’s edition focused on lobsters.

Karla Lacey, the CEO of BUEI, said: “We are happy to provide the opportunity for kids to learn more about these great creatures of Bermuda’s oceans.

“Lobsters are fascinating, intelligent creatures with complex social relationships. Like people, they carry their young for nine months and can even live as long as 100 years.”

This weekend’s event will feature the short film Lobsters — The Armoured Knights of the Ocean and a reading of the Suzanne Tate book Lindie Lobster — A Tale of Big Claws.

Kid’s Hour Saturday runs from 11am to 2pm and is intended for children between the ages of 5 and 12.

The event is free for BUEI members and $2.50 per child for non-members. Spaces are limited so registration in advance is encouraged.
