MSA bazaar brings magic to the school and raises $150,000
Students “returned to the magic” when Mount Saint Agnes Academy held its annual bazaar in full for the first time in three years.
Under the theme of “return to the magic”, the two-day event, earlier this month, helped the school raise more than $150,000.
Principal Anna Faria-Machado said it felt fantastic to bring back what many students and staff considered as their favourite school tradition.
She said: “We were quite happy to bring this back for our students and we find maintaining beloved traditions very rewarding.”
Ms Machado said the feedback from the school community was extremely positive, despite being briefly rained out on one afternoon.
She said one of the most popular games was the dunking stool, where people got to dunk the students in this year’s graduating class into a pool of water.
Another popular area was Kiddy Land, the area for children ten years old and younger, and their families.
The bazaar was equipped with baked goods and cotton candy, face painting, a giant slide and a raffle drawing.
This year’s draw offered prizes of two new Kia Picanto cars and two new Yamaha Soul scooters.
According to Ms Machado, MSA had surpassed its raffle sales goal of $120,000 before the fair began. Total funds raised were more than $150,000.
Ms Machado thanked the bazaar committee, which “put in a lot of work and brought in a lot of new volunteers to ensure this year’s event was a success”.
