Parents urged to apply for $150 cost-of-living support
Parents and guardians of public school pupils were reminded to apply by the end of this month if they wish to receive $150 in support.
The Ministry of Education said that the deadline for assistance from the Government’s relief fund was October 31.
A spokeswoman said applications have been received for 2,488 pupils with 2,276 approved and submitted to the Accountant-General's office for payment. There are approximately 4,400 students in the public school system.
She added: “The Accountant-General's office has paid 1,567 of the 2,276 submitted for payment.
“The $150 relief is a part of the Bermuda Government's overall economic relief package.
”It is being made as a one-time payment to parents and guardians to help ease the financial burden on public school families.
“Only parents and guardians listed as the primary contact on the student's PowerSchool account are eligible for the $150 relief.”
People applying for the support were asked to “carefully follow the instructions” and check frequently asked questions before submitting their application on the Department of Education's PowerSchool system.
The step-by-step application process is available at bit.ly/Relief_Instructions.
