Police investigate graffiti found at Dellwood Middle School
Police launched an investigation into vandalism at a school in Pembroke after walls were spray-painted and a glass door was damaged.
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Education said that work was carried out at Dellwood Middle School to make sure that it was ready for the return of pupils today.
She explained on Sunday: “We are aware of the vandalism that has taken place at Dellwood Middle School, and the police are investigating.
“Repairs are under way to ensure the building is suitable for school opening on Tuesday.
“There is no justification for anyone to have committed this terrible action, and we support every effort of the Bermuda Police Service to investigate and apprehend the perpetrator(s).”
It appeared that red paint was used to deface the school’s sign while phrases appeared to have been written on doors and the side of a building.
A BPS spokesman said: “Shortly after 11.20am on Sunday, June 18, 2023, police responded to a report of wilful damage at the Dellwood Middle School on North Street, Pembroke.
“Upon arrival, officers observed graffiti spray-painted on a number of walls inside the school’s compound and a glass door damaged.
“An investigation into this matter has commenced, and no further information will be provided by the Bermuda Police Service at this time.”
It appeared that the graffiti was removed by yesterday afternoon.
