Berkeley Institute appoints Stephanie Lee to new role
A marketing consultant with more than a decade of experience has been appointed The Berkeley Institute’s first development and communications officer.
Stephanie Lee, who graduated from the school with high honours in 2006, will be responsible for the school’s fundraising initiatives, communications, public relations, alumni development, marketing and website management.
Calling the position her “dream”, Ms Lee said: “There is a pride that Berkeleyites carry, built on the 125 years of our history.
“My own journey has been varied but I needed to gain knowledge and experience that I can put into practice to help carry us into the future.”
Welcoming Ms Lee back to her alma mater, Craig Bridgewater, chairman of the Berkeley Board of Governors, said her role was key to the school’s development.
He explained: “Our students and alumni are making significant impact in Bermuda and around the world.
“We determined the need for a dedicated resource with responsibility to connect and engage with the broader Bermuda community and our alumni wherever they may roam.
“We are thrilled to have Stephanie, an accomplished alumnus of our school, return to us and join our management team in this important role.”
Keisha Douglas, the principal, said the school remained committed to educating and producing well-rounded students.
She added: “Our students are engaged in programmes and activities that have them competing and thriving on the global stage.
“In addition, the signature learning programming will require us to continue to strengthen our relations with businesses and community organisations.
“Taking the helm in highlighting our students and working to ensure we have the funds for our students to be able to participate in every opportunity presented to them is a major part of Ms Lee’s remit.”
Ms Lee earned a bachelor’s degree in arts and culture from York University in Canada and has certifications in digital marketing communications, advertising, web marketing, business administration and strategic marketing management.
She has worked for the Chamber of Commerce, The Royal Gazette and Masterworks Museum and launched her own consulting firm SociaLEE.
She also founded the Bermuda branch ofWomen who Own and Manage Businesses, a charity that recognises female entrepreneurs.
