The PHC Foundation recently awarded $27,000 in scholarships to young people to help them to continue their education.

Majesty Wilson, Kairo Lewis, Kauai Evans, Eusebio King-Mills, Keishon Bean, Angelino Madeiros and Shavon Nisbett were named the recipients at the foundation’s annual scholarship awards ceremony.

Since 2004, the PHC Foundation has awarded more than $352,000 in scholarships.

Mark Simons, the PHC Foundation president, said: “We are extremely proud of this year’s group of extraordinary young people selected to receive a PHC Foundation Scholarship Award.

“Congratulations to all our recipients. We wish them well in their studies this school year.”

The presentation was held at Chubb Limited and attended by PHC Foundation donors, family, friends and guests who celebrated the positive accomplishments of the awardees.

Charryse Bean, the director of the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation, served as a guest speaker for the event, while Owen Darrell, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, also gave words of encouragement to the awardees.

The event also paid tribute to the late Marco Warren, who was a former recipient of a PHC Foundation scholarship and who died in a hit-and-run incident this year.
