A $15,000 scholarship from the Bermuda Hotel Association has allowed a university student to continue pursuing hospitality studies in Canada.

The BHA presented this year’s Adrian Hassell Memorial Scholarship to Shaqcoy Fox at the Rosedon Hotel.

BHA president Clarence Hofheins wished Mr Fox luck and said he looked forward to the Humber College, Ontario, student joining the industry in Bermuda once he had completed his studies.

The BHA renamed the scholarship after Mr Hassell, who worked at Rising Son cruises and the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club before losing his life after a boat crash in 2019, at the age of 24.

Mr Fox thanked the BHA and its awards committee, his family and Mr Hassell’s family at the ceremony.
