Bermuda Kids receives top honours from Kindermusik
The arts-based educational programme Bermuda Kids has received top honours from the international organisation Kindermusik for the second year running.
Kindermusik is a global leader in music-based education for infants, toddlers and young children, and Alexandra Lima is a Kindermusik accredited educator and the owner of Bermuda Kids.
The Kindermusik Top Programme award recognises excellence in spreading the power of music and movement to children and their families through Kindermusik’s curricula.
Scott Kinsey, chief executive of Kindermusik International, said: “Intentional, shared music-making is the best way to supercharge whole-child development because it stimulates all areas of the brain at once.
“The shared aspect is the icing on the cake as it leans into social-emotional growth and critical bonding between primary caregiver and child.
“These top programmes, all run by accredited educators, are the ones that really bring everything to life by making it inclusive, playful and memorable, so that children take these joyful learning experiences with them to fuel success in school, relationships and beyond.”
Ms Lima began providing Kindermusik in January 2021 with small class sizes and limited offerings because of the pandemic. The classes now reach more than 200 families each year, over three semesters and summer programmes.
She said: “It is very humbling to look back at where we started and see how many families have been there from the beginning. Without a doubt, our success is directly linked to the loyalty and support Bermuda has shown.”
Bermuda Kids has been ranked 78 in the world, and Bermuda is the smallest country to be recognised in the award.
