Scholarship awards presented by Devonshire Parish Council
Five students who showed “exceptional dedication” and academic achievement have been announced by Devonshire Parish Council as its 2023-24 scholarship winners.
The council’s scholarship programme also looks at applicants who have shown “a deep commitment to making a positive impact in our community”.
• Jaden Smith is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology at Acadia University in Canada
• Razi Garland: Bachelor of Science degree in psychology at Bethune Cookman University in Florida
• Kayla McCarthy: Bachelor of Science degree in bioveterinary science
• Timaris Thompson: music performance and production diploma at Uxbridge College in Britain
• Isabella Gaugain: Bachelor of Science honours degree in social work, University of Winchester in Britain
On top of financial support, awardees take part in community events and networking opportunities organised by the parish council.
Denae Burchall, the council’s scholarship committee chairwoman, said: "We are immensely proud to recognise these exceptional young individuals who have shown remarkable dedication to their studies and service to our community.
“Through the Devonshire Parish Council scholarship programme, we aim to empower these bright minds to pursue their dreams and become catalysts for positive change.”
