Peak Potential to help improve public school performance
A charity that helps children to reach their full potential has partnered with the Department of Education to help boost the academic performance of public school students.
Peak Potential Bermuda is a charity committed to unlocking children’s potential by helping them to develop essential skills.
Doyle Cyril Butterfield, the charity’s chief executive, said: "Through our evidence-based programme, developed in collaboration with Scholars Education, we aim to equip students with fundamental skills, boost their confidence and enhance their academic performance."
The partnership will facilitate collaborative research between Peak Potential Bermuda and the Bermuda Public School System, aiming to benefit both organisations in fulfilling their educational missions.
“The BPSS is dedicated to providing engaging Stem and Steam learning experiences, and Peak Potential Bermuda's Lego Stem and Youth Accelerator programmes perfectly complement the BPSS's Engineering is Elementary, Lingo at Signature Stem, and summer Steam programmes.”
The four-hour workshop offered by Peak Potential Bermuda for middle and senior school students aligns with the department’s Career Pathways and Dual Enrolment programmes.
Llewellyn Simmons, the Ministry of Education’s director of academics, said he was excited about the possibilities the partnership presents.
On behalf of the Commissioner of Education and the Department of Education, Dr Simmons said: “Together we will support Bermuda's students in achieving their goals."
To mark the launch of their initiatives and partnership, Peak Potential will be hosting the Scholars and Friends Fundraising Golf Tournament on Saturday, October 21.
Matthew Baxter, chief executive of Scholars Education International, will visit Bermuda to participate in the tournament and present prizes to the winners during the post-tournament lunch.
Peak Potential Bermuda uses funds to provide bursaries and support enrolment in academic skill-building programmes for children in need.
