Use technology as a force for good, Rabain urges students
An interactive event hosted by the Economic Development Department was designed to inspire and educate high school students about “the vast and exciting world of technology”.
Featured topics included fintech, artificial intelligence, robotics, app development, cybersecurity, non-fungible tokens, bioinformatics, genetics and other cutting-edge tech-related subjects.
Diallo Rabain, the Minister of Education, told the students: “Use technology as a force for good.
“There are countless ways to make a positive impact, whether developing solutions to address climate change, creating innovative healthcare technologies, or promoting equality and access through bioinformatics or digital platforms.
“Technology can bring about positive change in the world, and it's up to each of you to harness that power and use it to create a better future for all of us.”
The department thanked the speakers who lent their time and expertise to the event including Carika Weldon, Sean Stapley, Seth Gray, Antonia Holder, Kerem Kolcuoglu, Nick Mueller, Fernando De Deus, Amrita Bhalla, Shaun Richards, Ayanna Wolfe, Hannah Collins and Sheldon Jones.
It also thanked sponsors Ingine, Burrows Lightbourn, Bermuda Waterworks and Charge Locker as well as the event partner, the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, and other supporters.
