Workshop series will cover healthy habits for parents
An outreach organisation will teach healthy parenting skills during a workshop series next month.
Shift, an organisation focused on youth development, has launched the Intentional Parent Workshop for guardians of children aged 5 to 17.
Samantha Smith, a workshop organiser, said the programme was aimed at people who wanted to build healthy parenting behaviours and make more informed choices.
She added: “We understand the challenges of parenting in today's world.
“That's why our workshop is structured to be supportive, educational and, above all, empowering.
“We aim to inspire confidence and courage in our participants, enabling them to approach parenting with renewed energy and understanding."
Shift has launched a holiday-themed campaign to inspire acts of kindness.
The 12 Days of Kindness, which starts tomorrow, will highlight different admirable qualities to motivate others to embody the traits.
Truell Landy, the organisation’s executive director, said: “At Shift, we believe that every individual has the potential to make a significant impact in their community through simple yet powerful acts of kindness.
“This campaign is a celebration of that potential. It’s about empowering people to transform their world, one act of kindness at a time.”
Anyone can get involved and participants can share their daily stories or acts of kindness over social media using the hashtag 12DaysOfKindness.
Samantha Smith, another member of Shift, said: “This is about more than just a seasonal campaign, it’s about igniting a lasting movement of kindness, empathy and community spirit.”
The workshop will focus on social and emotional growth, as well as emphasising the development of emotional intelligence, stress management and effective communication.
It will offer an inclusive and safe space for guardians to learn and practise how to be open and honest with their children.
The meetings will allow for a support group to help mediate the difficulties of modern parenting.
Vernelda Perinchief, the primary creator of the Intentional Parent Workshop programme, said: "Our goal is to equip participants with the tools and understanding necessary to foster stronger, more meaningful relationships with their children.
"We believe in a dynamic, forward-thinking approach that fosters healthy relationship and communication, and embraces social emotional learning strategies such as self-awareness and self-management strategies."
Workshops will start on January 8 and take place every Monday for the rest of the month.
