Students of the Dalton E Tucker Primary School recently tested their engineering skills by designing devices that protect eggs from cracking on impact.

Following weeks of Stem activities, the students designed eight devices as part of an Egg Drop competition, the government said in a release.

The school teamed up with the Port Royal Fire Station, where the effectiveness of the devices was tested last Friday. The devices, four of which passed the test, were dropped from atop the fire-station building.

Minister of Education Diallo Rabain was on hand to witness the event.

"The Egg Drop Competition not only provided students with a fun and engaging way to apply their Stem knowledge but also fostered teamwork and critical thinking skills,” Mr Rabain said.

Through collaborations with organisations such as the Port Royal Fire Station, he said Dalton Primary “continues to inspire students with real-world experiences.”
