Applicants sought for Barbara Ball scholarship
The application period for the Dr Barbara Ball Public Health Scholarship has opened for those pursuing a career in public health.
Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, urged interested students to apply before the April 30 deadline.
“This scholarship is designed for individuals passionate about making a difference in Bermuda's public-health field and is awarded annually to Bermudian students with proven financial need,” she added.
The scholarship was named after Dr Ball, the first Bermudian woman to practise medicine on the island and a renowned public-health physician who dedicated her life to helping the downtrodden.
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements, including a minimum GPA of 3.0 (UK 2:2, IB 30) and a demonstration of financial need, with the full list of criteria available online at www.gov.bm/barbara-ball-scholarship.
The scholarship is offered for those studying in a variety of public-health areas, including occupational therapy, nursing, social work, environmental health, counselling, dental hygiene, maternal care, pharmacy, doctor of medicine and doctor of dentistry.
