Government opens 2024 Public Service Bursary Award scheme
People who plan to take roles in the Public Service can apply for a government bursary to support them while they study.
The packages are reserved for those who can meet the future needs of government departments in specialised “hard-to-fill posts".
Applications are being accepted for the 2024 Public Service Bursary Award Scheme.
Cherie Whitter, the Head of the Public Service, said: “The Public Service remains committed to attracting and developing the best and brightest talent in Bermuda.
“The Bermuda Government’s bursary awards programme provides funding and recognition to exceptional individuals who have demonstrated dedication, determination and potential in academic courses that align with the future needs of the service.
“We are looking for individuals who are seeking a diverse, dynamic and meaningful career in the Public Service and we are encouraging interested young people to apply for this year's bursary awards.”
Bursaries are valued at $20,000 a year and cannot exceed five years. They act as contributions towards student expenses and are not expected to cover all costs.
The Government hopes to fill the posts of associate management services partner, valuer, policy analyst, government analyst, Environmental Health Officer, management accountant, circulation librarian, departmental comptroller and assistant planner.
Applicants must be Bermudian, have completed no fewer than five years of education in Bermuda, and be 40 or younger by the time of application.
They must also be accepted into an institute of higher learning, be in a bachelor’s or master’s degree programme, or be taking courses in the qualifications required for work in the Public Service.
Applicants will be expected to stay within the government workforce and must plan to have a Public Service job.
Application forms can be found on the government website and must be completed by April 26.
