Warwick Academy celebrates international day
Students and teachers at Warwick Academy celebrated global cultures with food, festivities and fashion yesterday.
The school said its annual secondary international day, hosted by the modern language department, was “a celebration of cultural diversity and unity, much enjoyed by the school community”.
Pupils enjoyed a grub day and wore the colours of their chosen flag, national dress, favourite team jersey and other clothing that reflected their heritage.
Proceeds raised benefited a local and international charity.
The festivities began with an assembly for secondary students, followed by lessons taught with “an international flavour”, Scottish and salsa dancing, art, cooking, music workshops, and learning about a different country or culture.
The statement added: “At recess, students had an opportunity to sample a variety of foods from around the world.
“Students brought in a portion of food to share and dishes were labelled with their country of origin.”
