A school for children with specialised learning needs has announced its first advancement and communications director.

The Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning appointed Jane Vickers to the position, which is scheduled to come into effect on September 1.

Ms Vickers said: “I am honoured to be part of an institution that is committed to providing personalised and flexible learning environments for students who think and learn differently.

“I look forward to contributing to BCCL’s growth and helping to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive.”

The director position was created as part of the BCCL’s Thrive initiative, which was developed out of several recommendations to boost the school’s growth between 2023 and 2026.

The initiative, released last May, will boost the school’s finances, operations, educational excellence and infrastructure.

Ms Vickers was raised in Bermuda and developed a commitment to excellence and community service at a young age.

She attended the University of Western Ontario in Canada and stayed in the country after graduation to develop a career in professional recruitment, marketing and sales over 17 years.

Ms Vickers returned to Bermuda in 2005 to work as the director of development at Warwick Academy.

Her 18-year tenure helped to increase funding, expand learning programmes and strengthen community ties through successful initiatives, partnerships and alumni relationships.

“Her extensive experience and dedication to educational excellence will be invaluable as we continue to empower students and expand our programmes.

“Jane’s leadership will help us enhance the learning environment and support our vision for a Bermuda where every child’s learning needs are supported.”
