Lionel Cann appointed facilities director at Saltus
Famed cricketer Lionel Cann has been appointed director of facilities and maintenance at Saltus Grammar School.
Mr Cann started as a custodian at the school in 1999 and became its Lenel security administrator in 2017.
A spokeswoman said: “In this new role, Mr Cann will lead the facilities and maintenance team to support the needs of nearly 1,000 students and employees at the Saltus St John’s and Cavendish campuses.”
Head of school Julie Rousseau said Mr Cann’s experience and knowledge of Saltus facilities made him “very well prepared for the increased responsibilities of this leadership role”.
“The attributes that made him a star cricketer in Bermuda for many years — commitment, dedication and can-do attitude — are the same that make him shine at Saltus.”
Mr Cann, whose cricket career spanned 35 years, is one of only five players to score more than 1,000 runs in Cup Match.
He served as captain for St George’s twice, played in the Eastern Counties and was part of the Bermuda team that qualified for the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup.
