BHS announces graduates’ IB results
The Bermuda High School’s Class of 2024 placed above the global average for International Baccalaureate scores, the school said this week.
A BHS spokeswoman said that 94 per cent of the class’s pupils received their IB diplomas.
The class’s average point score also sat at 32, while the global average was 30.3 points. IB diplomas are scored out of 45 points.
Carol Swainson, the head of the school, congratulated the students on their success, adding: “I am thrilled that our long history of excellent results continues.
“Kudos to both our students and teachers for all of the hard work that went into this achievement.”
Bethany Cooze scored the highest with 41 points and plans to study at McGill University in Canada to study commerce.
Olivia Porter, Lily Cornes, Hannah Stockley and Jasmine Douglas were also among the top five highest IB results.
Olivia plans to study public policy at Princeton University in the United States, while Lily plans to study creative arts practice at Bath Spa University in England.
Hannah will attend the University of Exeter in England to study English and Jasmine will attend Dalhousie University in Canada to study psychology.
Other youngsters will attend Bermuda College and colleges across North America and England to study disciplines including law, art, economics and aviation.
Sarah Wheddon, the school’s senior years programme and IB co-ordinator, said: “This year’s cohort demonstrated resilience and dedication as they navigated the challenges of the rigorous IB programme.
“The average subject scores continue to be above the world average, which reflects the hard work of the students and our teachers.
“There was a 100 per cent pass rate for all courses, highlighting the determination of each of our students.
“Congratulations to all the students, teachers and families who have supported this journey and best wishes for your bright futures.”
