Charity awards scholarships to 14 ‘exceptional’ students
The educational journeys of 14 Bermudians received a boost with the award of Knowledge Quest scholarships.
The charity was confident that the awardees will continue to excel in their chosen fields of study.
It said: “These 14 exceptional students represent a diverse array of academic disciplines, ranging from arts and sciences to business and technology.
“Their dedication to their studies and their communities is truly inspiring, and we are proud to play a part in their academic and professional development.”
This year’s recipients were:
• Se-Lah Bean, attending Albany State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in health science
• J'Kai Berkeley, attending the New England Institute of Technology to pursue a bachelor’s degree in marine technology
• Edward Burchall, attending Dalhousie University to pursue studies in commerce
• Alexcie Burrows, attending Virginia State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education
• Adonijah Easton-Washington, attending Queen Margaret University to pursue biology studies
• Kayley Hamilton, attending Dalhousie University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in bio-veterinary science
• Lily Ingham, attending Oxford Brookes to pursue studies in events management and marketing
• Reihonna Lema, attending Georgia State University, to pursue a bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance
• Que-Sjionah Outerbridge, attending Birmingham City University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance
• Isaiah Pearman, attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer science
• Precious Perinchief, attending the University of Worcester to pursue studies in biology
• Damion Simmons, attending Health Sciences University in Britain to pursue studies in science
• Azre Smith-Mills, attending Bath Spa University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business management
• Christopher Woolgar, attending Aberystwyth University to pursue studies in zoology
Knowledge Quest said it was committed to supporting the next generation of leaders, innovators and change-makers.
“Through financial assistance and mentorship, we empower these scholars to achieve their educational goals and contribute positively to society,” it said.
Since 2002, the charity has supported over 285 students, awarding in excess of $6.5 million in scholarship funds.
In the 2023-24 academic year, it assisted 31 students.
This year, the charity received a record-high 160 scholarship applications, about 40 per cent more than it usually receives.
The charity’s board members Gigi Barit-Dunch, Cynthia Cox, Kathy Lines, Ricky Lines Fiona Luck and Iva Taylor thanked donors for their continued support.
