Free event geared towards achieving student success
A free workshop geared towards maximising student success has been launched.
The Child Evangelism Fellowship has teamed up with Noire Youth Theatre Company to invite P7 and P8 students, M1 to M3 students, and those entering CedarBridge Academy and the Berkeley Institute, to engage in the creative event titled Blueprint.
It will be held tomorrow at the Willowbank Resort and Conference Centre in Somerset from 8.30am to 3.30pm. Lunch will be provided.
A spokeswoman for the event said: “The objective is for students to create their personalised road map to a successful 2024 school year.
“Well-known educator on staff at Francis Patton Primary School, parent and member of the Bermuda Union of Teachers executive, Angelika Marshall, will host Blueprint.
“As one of our facilitators, she believes that setting realistic goals, developing an action plan, and creating ways to track, measure and celebrate student achievement on this road to success with accountability partners, is tantamount to favourable outcomes for every participant.
“A highlight of the event will be performances by Fire Wayne who has won the hearts of youth across the island and who has been honoured by the culture ministry. His song One Blood, presented as animation, promotes that love is the answer.
“Other successful artists who will facilitate workshop sessions are professional vocalist and musician Shardae Lee, past president of Noire Youth Theatre Company, director of staff development and instruction and comedienne Gina Davis, and Patricia O’Connor, retired paraeducator and nursery schoolteacher, choir director and worship leader.”
Part of the workshop will also address time management, goal setting and note taking.
Student success stories will be publicised monthly.
Organisers thanked the sponsors of the event including Willowbank, Polaris and the Bermuda Industrial Union.
