Somersfield school awards open to promising students

Gifted students in financial need are now eligible for Somersfield Academy’s equity and merit scholarships for the 2025-26 academic year, the school announced.

The awards offer promising students at the M4 middle years programme to the DP1 diploma programme levels the opportunity to attend the Devonshire school.

The programme is aimed at “nurturing tomorrow’s global leaders from the Bermuda community”.

Riki Teteina, the head of school, said: “Our goal is to open doors for outstanding young individuals who exhibit the drive to become compassionate leaders and socially conscious global citizens.”

Alison Kempe, the head of admissions, added that Somersfield’s mission was to offer educational opportunities to “those who may not have the means but possess the drive and academic potential”.

She added: “We encourage students who are passionate, purposeful and eager to make a difference to apply.”

Recipients receive full or partial tuition coverage for the academic year, along with access to a range of extracurricular activities and enrichment programmes.

They qualify for mentorship from teachers, with access to leadership opportunities.

Applicants should show a strong academic record and a passion for learning, exemplary character and involvement in extracurricular or community service activities.

Interested students should submit an original essay that expresses their passion for learning, community engagement and vision for personal growth.

Essays and applications should be sent to admissions@somersfield.bm no later than next January 31.

Applications will be reviewed by a committee of teachers and administrators.

Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview as part of the selection process.
