Saltus earns BC curriculum accreditation
The British Columbia academic curriculum has been fully implemented at Saltus Grammar School.
A spokeswoman said that Bob Esliger and Laurie Anderson, from the BC Ministry of Education, and Saltus’s BC offshore school representative Rob Comeau inspected the school last week.
Saltus began transitioning to the BC curriculum, which helps students build critical-thinking, problem-solving and future-ready skills, at the start of the 2023-24 academic year.
The spokeswoman added: “Over the course of three days, the inspectors visited classrooms, reviewed curricular planning, met with the Saltus leadership team, connected with parents and held discussions with students, teachers and the board chair E Michael Leverock.
“Visiting inspectors praised the school for its outstanding accomplishments in implementing the BC curriculum with a short time frame.
“They highlighted the school’s exceptional teaching and learning practices, which promote collaboration among students across all grades, and commended the strong support provided to teachers through ample resources and professional development opportunities.”
Julie Rousseau, the head of school, explained: “Reaching this stage in our certification process solidifies our status as a BC Offshore School and allows us to move forward with unwavering confidence.
“This annual inspection highlights our commitment to upholding the highest standards in education and delivering a rigorous, quality-assured programme to our community.
“With this accreditation from the BC Ministry of Education, alongside our recent CAIS [Canadian-Accredited Independent Schools] and NEASC [New England Association of Schools and Colleges] accreditations, we are proud to be triple-accredited — a reflection of our relentless pursuit of excellence and the immense pride we take in the learning experiences we provide at Saltus.”
