An information session to help families prepare children for college is to take place next month.

EDcellerate, an educational organisation, is hosting the Annual International College and University Fair on December 5 and 6 at CedarBridge Academy.

It is designed for college-bound students and their families as they navigate the process of selecting colleges and finding scholarship opportunities.

On December 5, at a Parent and Community Information Session, families will learn about essential resources offered locally to support students.

Scholarship and internship providers will be on hand as well as college representatives.

Sandra Dill, founder of EDcellerate, a college preparation coach and organiser of the fair, said: “In my experience, and in talking with high school guidance counsellors, many students seek scholarships to assist with the total cost for attending college.

“This year we have added more information about scholarship and internship opportunities.

“Students usually get the information at their schools. However, parents are often unaware of the requirements and opportunities.

“As the students’ cheerleader, it’s important for parents to be fully aware, especially as they are the ones who will be investing in their child’s college education, and it is not free.”
