Fundraiser to benefit scholarship programme

A physician and an artist and will donate their time and talents at the Somersfield Academy PTA holiday market this weekend.

The Giving Hands fundraiser, organised by Fatima Siddiqui and featuring Henna artist Velina Wheatley, will benefit the school’s Equity and Merit scholarship, which provides financial assistance and other benefits to students who show values such as growth, respect and intellectual curiosity.

Dr Siddiqui, who helped form Somersfield’s Rotary Interact Club, explained: “This event is a wonderful opportunity to combine community, creativity and a cause that I deeply care about.

“My daughter is so happy with the school; I want to highlight the transformative impact of this scholarship on students' lives and its potential to create future leaders in Bermuda.”

Kristen Scott Ndiaye, Somersfield’s development and marketing manager, said: “This fundraiser is a powerful reflection of the strength and generosity of our school community.

“Fatima’s dedication and Veliana’s art are just a glimpse of the incredible spirit we have here.

“Collaboration and passion tend to drive us to create meaningful opportunities for our students."

People can donate what they can at the fundraiser, which will be held at the school from 4pm to 8pm.
