Summer internship for digital marketing opens
A further education charity has opened up applications for its summer internship programme in the field of social media management.
SkillCraft’s youth internship, which will enter its fourth year in June, pairs youngsters aged between 16 and 18 with businesses and charities looking for help with social media marketing.
Margot Shane, SkillCraft’s programme director, said: “We are thrilled to see our young people thrive and excel during our programme.
“Over the past three years, our interns have had a 100 per cent completion rate.
“Last year, seven of the fifteen interns were offered ongoing social media work with their host business following the programme.
“One of our interns took the skills she acquired from SkillCraft and secured an entry-level position at a high-profile organisation.
“It is a testament to the hard work of our young people and also the supportive host mentors we’ve been fortunate to have participated.”
The teens who sign up for the course are taught fundamental marketing and social media skills by Aziza Furbert, SkillCraft’s resident marketing expert.
Interns practise their skills by working on their hosts’ social media accounts throughout the six-week programme, all while receiving one-on-one coaching sessions.
Host organisations rate the interns’ workplace behaviour throughout the programme, and the ratings are compared to those the interns give themselves.
Mya Smith, an intern from the programme’s third cohort, said that her course had a profound impact on her.
She explained: “I feel more comfortable and confident to present and talk to adults and people in general.
“I feel more confident for interviews. It has been an amazing experience.”
The 2025 SkillCraft Youth Internship will run from June 30 to August 8.
The cohort is accepting 15 pupils who will be placed at 15 organisations.
