A total of 20 Bermuda College employees were among two cohorts of students who recently completed “cutting edge” artificial intelligence courses.

The college partnered with the Clarity Institute to offer the foundation in generative AI course while the APACE AI course was offered virtually to students.

The groundbreaking courses marked a significant milestone in its commitment to offer educational opportunities that empower students to excel in generative AI technology, the college said.

The generative course was delivered weekly in the evenings and enabled participants to delve into the core principles of AI technology.

The APACE AI online course offered a flexible, self-guided option well-suited for busy professionals who aimed to balance work commitments with furthering their education, the college said.

It said generative AI is no longer the technology of tomorrow but rather an important part of today’s competitive edge digital toolkit spanning a vast assortment of industries.

The sectors include healthcare, education, business, applied technology and insurance.

Through the partnership with the Clarity Institute, the college said it continues to demonstrate its role as a leader in providing access to transformative education, ensuring that students remain at the forefront of innovation.

Ali Arouzi, vice president of academic affairs at the Bermuda College, said its partnership with the Clarity Institute was an example of dedication to providing innovative learning solutions and skill sets to its employees.

He added: “The AI technology can assist us in efficiently formulating our strategic goals, enhancing operational competences and improving decision-making processes.

“Bermuda College is pleased to be able to extend these learning opportunities to our community offering in-person, online or hybrid courses.”

Dr Arouzi encouraged other organisations to consider sponsoring or subsidising opportunities for their employees.

Stuart Lacey, the founder and chief executive of the Clarity Institute, highlighted the importance of similar initiatives in shaping the workforce of tomorrow.

He said: “AI is no longer just a buzzword; it’s a vital skill that professionals across all industries need to embrace.

“We are incredibly proud to partner with Bermuda College in offering courses that not only educate but empower Bermudians too.

“The success of these cohorts is proof of the demand and game-changing potential for AI education here in Bermuda.”

He said such partnerships are instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Mr Lacey added: “We are proud to work alongside Bermuda College to help equip local professionals with the tools needed to drive success in their industries, now and in the future.”

The next AI course at the college starts on February 6.
