Parents offer feedback on parish primary schools
Parents, teachers and community stakeholders were given an opportunity to help shape the island’s primary schools through “prototyping” sessions held last week.
The events were held at Elliot and Harrington Sound primary schools, both of which are to open as parish primary schools this September.
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Education said parents used the opportunity to provide their input on the new curriculum and activities.
She explained: “This hands-on approach, where parents and students are involved in creating sample features to test concepts, is a unique opportunity for you to shape our children's education.
“More than 100 parents, teachers and community partners attended the Harrington Sound and Elliot sessions.”
The spokeswoman said that the parish primary schools are a key part of efforts to reform the island’s public education system.
She added: “They are community-based education hubs that serve as centres for learning, support and development for children, families and communities.
“When fully implemented, parish primary schools will ensure equity, better student outcomes and stronger community ties across Bermuda’s education system.”
