Belco’s university scholarships announced
Belco is accepting scholarship applications for access to more than $100,000 in further education.
Bermudians looking to study science, technology, engineering and maths — Stem subjects — are eligible.
Students of business or energy sustainability can also apply for any of the four bursaries being offered in the company’s 2025 scholarship programme.
LaKeitha Cunningham, Belco’s director of human resources and culture, said: “At Belco, we are continuing our long and distinguished record of giving back to the community and furthering the education of Bermudians.
“I encourage those who are motivated to build a career at a great company to submit an application so that the next generation of Bermudians will have the knowledge and skills to help us achieve our future sustainability goals.”
The scholarships are available to anyone who is willing to work for Belco after their studies have completed.
The Llewellyn Vorley Engineering Scholarship will be granted to those looking to study in engineering fields, and offers $25,000 a year for four years.
The Belco Stem Education Awards range between $2,500 and $20,000 and are awarded for one academic year to those completing their first degree.
The AT Oughton Post Graduate Business and Finance Scholarship was created with the goal of increasing the number of Bermudians in the business and finance sectors.
The bursary, which offers as much as $25,000 for one year, will be given to those pursuing a graduate degree in business or finance.
The C. Eugene Cox Post Graduate Environmental Studies and Sustainability Scholarship also offers as much as $25,000 for one year.
Candidates must be studying for a graduate degree in a discipline related to renewable energy, sustainability, engineering, environmental studies or information technology.
The application process is open until April 30.
