Debate contest to take place this weekend

Young people will debate important topics at CedarBridge Academy this weekend.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Education said participants in the minister’s debate challenge youth tournament will discuss “significant issues such as banning social media and managing over-tourism”.

She added that the event, which students aged 10 to 14 spent months preparing for, helps “enhance speaking abilities, become more confident communicators and learn to express opinions on important issues”.

The semi-finals will begin at 1pm today and the finals 1.30pm tomorrow.

Both free events are open to the public and will take place inside the CedarBridge cafetorium.
