Teachers collaborate on improving student learning
Teachers and school leaders took part in interactive sessions as inductions for school transformation team members continued last week.
Activities included consideration of changes that can be tested in classrooms to make learning more inclusive for pupils in Bermuda.
The sessions followed a two-day workshop in February and were held for staff at East End Primary School, St George's Preparatory School, St David's Primary School, West End Primary School and Somerset Primary School.
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Education said: “The sessions encouraged mindsets of curiosity and creativity and managed risk-taking — key ingredients for meaningful and sustained education reform.
“School teams identified practical, small-scale changes to test in their classrooms and schools.
“These changes, referred to as 'mini-experiments', are innovative teaching methods or classroom management strategies that aim to make learning more relevant and inclusive for Bermuda's children and young people.”
The next workshop is scheduled for April as part of an ongoing effort to build the competence and confidence of people who are engaged in the school transformation process.
The Education Reform Unit will provide regular check-ins to discuss what is working and what can be improved.
